Yes, I have been absent from blogging for much of this past week but the days were filled with meeting after meeting and many challenges to find solutions to.  By the time I got home each night I made a direct move to the bedroom and ended up falling right to sleep!  This was, without a doubt, the busiest week of the school year to date.  Luckily I was able to squeeze some gym time into the evening, as tired as I might have been, just to keep the physical activity going.

This week at school we had spoiled lunches, staffing shortages, central office meetings, lots of paperwork all due at once, an evening open house, and a few legal issues that are still in process and became a bit more complicated.  If only the teachers knew of the legal issues that exist in a school on a daily basis and the test my diplomatic skills are put to almost every day.  It seems everyone “has a lawyer” and threatens with any school act, either discipline or other administrative act, to unleash their legal fury.  I nod and, in a very special and caring way, advise them to bring it on.  With only two exceptions this year, calling parental bluffs has worked and rarely do they ever expect that I would counter their threats.  Many parents have been able to threaten their way through school system after school system.  I had lots of that happening in New York when I was a principal there and learned from observing my colleagues what the best approach would be.

When the first threat was brought to me years ago, by the Nation of Islama as a matter of fact, I stood firm and it worked!  This week was more of the same.  Oh well.

Now the week is over and a new one is approaching.  This morning I woke up before 7am and made a batch of scones.  Later this morning I will head over to the gym and enjoy a casual workout before coming back home and slaving over laundry and house cleaning.  Awww…I need a personal assistant to do these exciting house tasks for me.  Any takers?  Hell, I’ll even hire some to go to the gym in my place to work out for me.  Any takers on that role?  Applications now being accepted. 

After a week like the one I just had, I look to the calendar and rejoice in seeing my next trip to Orlando is less than only two weeks away!  How awesome is that!!  I can’t wait…oh, yea, the convention too – that sounds like fun.  But Orlando?  Again?  Exciting…and something to look forward to.
