More of the Same

Sunday.

The rain stopped and brought in a mix of sun and clouds, but mostly sun.  Mild temperatures and a gentle wind swept in overnight and so we were gifted with a pleasant day.

Pleasant.

Today I awoke at seven in the morning, well rested after an uninterrupted sleep that began at 6:00PM last night.  My phone has not rung since Friday evening.  Luckily I had my journal to type into so I could express some things I needed to say.  My journal is always there.

I was supposed to meet RAM and HAM for dinner last night but I never made it out of the house.

This morning was quiet, as most mornings are.  I have not had much of an appetite recently, but I did nibble on a scone as I drank my morning coffee and did some memo typing for this coming week’s work preparation.  I put away some laundry I did yesterday, folding and purging some old and battered clothes.  I put away my shorts and polo shirts and made way for the heavier clothing which will be best in colder weather.

I realized I need new clothes.  Well, not new…just more.  OK, new.

I was able to sort through some things in the basement, getting rid of the fish tank, stand, and some picture frames that will look nice in my office at work.  An old dresser that was in the basement and sitting unused was carried to the curb.  This dresser has been in all three houses and was something the owners of the first house left and I later used as storage.  Now that the home office has appropriate storage and the dresser  was just taking up space in the basement, I needed to clear the basement out for fixing and preparation for a potential use that it to be determined (guest room?, storage?, a combination of both?, a playroom?).  I moved it to the curb in three trips (it was heavy!) and placed a sign on it declaring “FREE” and within an hour it was off of the curb and en route to its new home.

I looked at the clock, it was 10AM.  Was that it?  I made my way back to bed and relaxed a bit with the book I am reading and some more coffee…cup number 3.  A few hours later, I got my running shoes on and went for a run to try and clear my mind, listening to some music as I ran and enjoying the bright sun.  Although I was not overjoyed with my running performance, I did relax a bit and came home a little more energetic.  Checking my phone after I returned, it sat on the windowsill motionless and silent, as it has all weekend.

More quiet.  I am resisting the urge to turn on the television, trying to concentrate on my book and relax away from the television.  The television has always been a constant during my day and I want to try and reverse that.  I said try.

I know I can do it… at least until 5:30 tonight when Steel Magnolias will play on the Lifetime Network (television for women [and gay men]) and I am sooooo in a Steel Magnolia’s mood today.

Let’s get the next chapter or two read, pop in some popcorn, and grab the box of Kleenex, because its almost showtime!  Sally, Dolly, Shirley, Olympia, Daryl and Julia, here I come!

Until then, its more of the same.
