Children

Something got me thinking about having children – oh, yea, it was the 260 of them around me throughout the day.
I know that one day we will have a family, children of our own. How that is going to happen and in what time frame is still being discussed, although my biological clock is ticking. Wait, nevermind, that was the metronome in my guitar case that I was hearing.
As we work around the house or spend time together out and about around town, or even relax around the mall or a bookstore, I sometimes picture those times with a child of our own. Walking and taking opportunities to share in teaching moments and to have the chance of raising a child together is a tremendous responsibility and a challenge I believe we are up to facing as we face all challenges at eachother’s side. Mushy, I know, but true.
We love to cook, that is a fact. We love to bake and try new recipes, most of the time with great culinary success. How exciting would it be in the kitchen together with our son or daughter teaching baking skills, importance of measuring, the discipline of following directions, and the great result that can come from patience and attention to detail. Baking can also be messy and that can be fun, too!
But a family is something we have spoken about before and occasionally mention when we talk about where we see ourselves in the future and the goals and dreams we share. When we first began talking about starting a family, we both agreed we would wait until closer to the end of T’s studies which is actually approaching faster than it seems since he is halfway through the third semester of a four semester program. Soon it will be graduation and then the real fun starts!
Anyone who has seen T with a child knows he is amazing and will make a great dad. I look forward to sharing that role with him and doing our part to be good parents.
