Today is going to be just one of those days – the days I really like because they tend to go smoothly and quickly.  Looking at my calendar for today, there is very little wiggle room for unscheduled appointments which is usually not a good thing since something always tends to come up at school that was originally unplanned.  Right now I am sipping tea at the kitchen counter and planning my day.  With an open house for incoming students this morning followed immediately by a meeting with our contractor, there doesn’t seem to be any time for phone calls from parents or any discipline issues that might arise.  This morning will be one of diligent delegation.

After my two morning appointments, I need to go to the bank and then make my way to the last principal’s meeting for this school year.  Tomorrow evening is graduation and today we are finalizing plans and preparations for the event.  The next meeting will be in July as we plan for the next school year – can you actually believe this academic year is practically over?  Only two days left of school for my students and one of them is a half day!  Not bad, huh?

At home we have been keeping quite busy.  We are in the process of reorganizing and refurnishing our home office with a new design T created using Ikea office furniture.  It now gives the office the feel of a chic reading and work area, something that reminds me of my time in Paris with the rich red walls and the dark famed furniture – it screams comfort and productivity.  What was a cold, single-use room for one is now being transformed into a multi-purpose, warm, inviting, space for two.  The only real influence I had on the design was the desk.  I wanted the desk to really look like two people were jointly occupying the work space and not just two people sharing one desk.  This is also the first room in the house that we collaborated on from design to installation.  Next will be the bathrooms, but only in the design since the contractor will be doing all of the work!

Now the time is beckoning me to hit the road and start this new day and face the new challenges that await me.  To use Jackie Gleason’s trademark phrase…..And away we go!
