Ready, Set, Volley!

After school today is the showdown of all showdowns.  I am participating in the annual school administrator’s charity volleyball tournament.  I am psyched and ready, but haven’t played in many years.  I mean, how hard can it really be?  My leg warmers with matching wrist and head bands are prepped and ready to wear.  My sneakers are polished and sweatpants neatly ironed.  I am ready to slam dunk (is that right?) the ball.

Seriously, I am looking forward to the game that the other principals are not looking forward to.  Apparently our region of administrators sucks at volleyball and gets beat each year.  I have already been told not to expect to pass through the first round of eliminations so that means the pizza will still be hot when we get to it.  Every dark cloud has a silver lining, right?  Maybe this year I will be the light hidden under the bushel basket and my volleyball fury will be unleashed with the very first serve.  Time will tell and so will the photos!  Oh, I was also advised that the last two years also resulted in a broken arm and ankle with each principal taken away in an ambulance.  Trust me, with a half-marathon coming up this Sunday and my desire to get on the road as soon after the game as possible, I will play smarter and not harder.  GO TEAM!

Yes, you heard (errr, read) me correctly.   I will be making the drive up to Cambridge after securing first place or warm pizza, which ever comes first.  I plan on bypassing most of the traffic and should get to the studio after midnight.  I am ready for a nice extended Memorial Day weekend and the excitement was piqued when T said we had a date planned for Friday night…and no other information was given.  I love surprises and haven’t had one in a long time.  This is perfect!  What could it be?  Where could we be going?  What will we be doing?  Hmm…I’d rather not think too much about it for a surprise is a surprise, right?  Yay!

This should be the last trip to Cambridge for a while since we will both return early next week as T gets ready for his internship with the central leadership of the DC Public Schools.  It is going to be an exciting summer with lots of activities available to us, including a number of performances both local and on Broadway.  Let the good times roll!

But first, on to victory!
