Give Me A Kiss

I have come to appreciate the joy that is contained in a simple kiss. A little treat that just touches the lips and sends a slight shiver down my back. I could enjoy partaking in kisses all night long but it is probably not a healthy use of my time. Sometimes after a kiss or two I get this surge of energy and a feeling of satisfaction knowing that if I want another kiss, I can just go right to the source ~ the kitchen cabinet. Yup, I am talking about Hershey kisses. The enjoyable goodness embraced by a colorful foil wrapper is something people of all ages can enjoy.
I remember when I was in elementary school we had to sell chocolate bars each year. The class with the highest sales would get an ice cream party (woo hoo!) and the individual in each class who sold the highest would get a 5-pound bar of chocolate. I mean, this thing was huge! Year after year through the connections my mother made at bingo and the beauty parlor I was the highest selling student in the class and a grateful recipient of the ton-o-chocolate. And, each year, my mom would donate it back to the school and I never saw it again but I am sure the nuns and priests were satisfying those things that chocolate tends to satisfy.
Here’s the connection. One time I WAS allowed to take the ton-o-chocolate home and that year it happened to be a very large Hershey kiss. What a treat that was! I do have to admit that what little of the 5-pound kiss I did taste was enough to cause a slight departure from my chocolate cravings. I did get sick of it and the novelty wore off quickly.
Tonight I am reminded of this childhood memory because of the bag of Hershey kisses I saw when I opened the kitchen cabinet and it brought me back so I thought I would share it with you.
