I’m Hungry

Really. I am. I have not gone grocery shopping in a while and I am out of all the basics, including milk and eggs. I really should do some shopping and will do the bulk of it on Tuesday, but until then I am existing on pasta for dinner and toast for breakfast. Not just plain old toast, but toast with almond butter. Yes, almond butter. I purchased it a few weeks ago as a substitute for the peanut butter that has been part of my morning ritual for years. I made the switch on the recommendation of our friends HAM and it was an ok switch – just ok. The texture is grittier and the taste is nice, but I miss peanut butter. Peanut butter is on the grocery list. So is almond butter.
By the way, what’s the deal with rice cakes? I bought them the same time I acquired the jar of almond butter but is there any indication of when they become stale? Stale items tend to get hard and are often tasteless. That basically describes rice cakes at the time of purchase, so I’m just not sure. So, just to be on the safe side, I am using them as coasters instead.
Today was a rainy and chilly day for the most part. I took advantage of the sloppy day outside and concentrated on housecleaning. I thoroughly cleaned all of our hardwood floors this morning and cleared some clutter out of the office. I even went through some of my clothes and took out some of the larger shirts that I would tend to wear casually but realistically are way too big for me. This should give me some room in the closet for potential clothing purchases that will hug my body rather than hang off it.
Once the house was cleaned and the rain paused, I went for a nice run. The humidity had begun to climb back up after the rain so I ended a wet, sweaty mess. It still felt great because I have a half marathon this coming Sunday and I feel highly motivated and ready. I will probably squeeze in one more run during the week before I leave for Cambridge on Friday and that will be it. Time will tell. Bring it on!
OK, back to me being hungry. I have been craving chocolate recently and have been treating myself to six Hershey kisses each night. Don’t worry. That sounds like alot, right? Well one serving size is nine kisses and carries with it less than 200 calories. Not bad for a snack. Keeping it to six is fine with me and just gives me the right amount of chocolate to ease my craving and is the only snack I have throughout the day. Yum for me!
What is planned for the rest of my day? Well, there is a haircut planned and then a nice snack of Hershey kisses before I settle down with a cup of tea and an attempt at finishing this book I have been reading for the last week or so. Sounds exciting, right? Just another relaxing evening here in Cheverly.
