Weekend Away

Arriving yesterday afternoon, T and I met for lunch at a Japanese restaurant across the street from his school. Afterwards I went back to the apartment and took what was a much needed nap. Later in the evening we met up with T’s friend KA and we had a drink followed by a very nice dinner together. KA just finished his PhD in psychometrics at Fordham University and is working at a local test production company responsible for such examinations as the PSAT and the SAT, and he was in town for a one day conference at Harvard. KA and T were roommates when T was getting his first masters at Fordham and their friendship developed into something more. Sweet, isn’t it?
That was back in 2004…fast forward to last night and the three of us are sitting at a table, enjoying each other’s company and having debates on culture and the perfect society. Quite interesting. We drove KA back to his hotel and ended up going back to the apartment and right to bed…this morning’s alarm began to ring shortly after 5am! Yikes!
We made our way to Logan Airport and picked up T’s dad who flew in for an economic conference in New York City but made a one day pit stop to visit with his son. Bringing lots of goodies from the Philippines (including a karaoke machine that T requested), we started the morning off with a hearty breakfast at IHOP…Yumm-O! Back at the apartment as T put away his corned beef and dried mangoes fresh from the Philippines, I started to think about what we can do today in this chilly and damp weather. Short of ideas that did not involve extensive outside exposure, we opted to go to a few of the Harvard Museums of Art. We ended up at the Fogg Art Museum and the Sackler Museum of Art. Interestingly enough, the Fogg will be closing on June 30th for a five year major renovation so if you are in the area, please take a moment to see the extensive collection of art on display at the Fogg before it closes down!
Here is a photo of Mr. S enjoying one of the paintings hanging in the Fogg Museum of Art…

Over four hours into the museum explorations, we were done, “we” meaning Mr. S and I. T stayed at the library preparing for final papers and left us to explore the museums together. Now I sit and wait after coming in from a nice run…we have dinner reservations this evening at Harvest and it is sure to be a great time since it is one of the better restaurants in the Cambridge area! This weekend is getting more and more interesting!
