Lucky Monday

Today is a big day for T. He is a finalist for an internship with the DC Public School Chancellor’s Office and has a phone interview this morning. I know he worked hard and late into the wee hours of the morning (4am!!) on the application, writing sample, and essay questions. Education (policy, leadership, management) has become an interest of his and this position would be a great opportunity to branch off into the public sector for a moment and experience the joys of government work.
I wish my sweetie good luck this morning and know he will do well! He always does well in everything he sets himself off to do and this will be no exception.
UPDATE: The phone interview went well and something just might be in the works! I will keep you posted. Congrats, Honey!
Today, for me, is back to work. I have some deadlines coming up that I have been putting off. The other evening I told T that I had no motivation or energy to do the work that was due, even though I had free time to do it. He simply replied that it was laziness, not a lack of energy. Thanks for the reality check, hon. I have been spoiled lately with weeks of no deadlines or projects due. Now they are all due at once. Readings in preparation for an administrators meeting this Thursday (Harvard Business Review article on leadership authenticity) and a 2-hour presentation for the following Thursday in Atlantic City. No, not on proper ways to gamble but on appropriate ways to handle school crisis incidents and threat assessment. Exciting I know. What’s even more exciting is that the participants will have an opportunity to listen to me for over two hours. Can you imagine! Oh, the luck they have!
I also got word that our former pregnant friend N, scheduled for a c-section this coming Friday, gave birth to Tyler Michael yesterday at 8:13am. Tyler Michael was born at 8 pounds, 5 ounces. How lucky is it for everyone that she and her husband J brought a child into this world and we get to share in their joy! Lucky are we to have them as friends and to witness new life and the gift it brings. It has been a baby-filled year so far with RAM’s baby born seven months ago, CAJ’s baby due this week in New York, and N and J’s baby arriving on Friday. As a side note, at the baby shower last month I bet on the birth date being April 30th…I sense a conspiracy here!
What a great start to the week being able to share all of this good news and upcoming bouts of goodness. As more details surface about these great opportunities/events/births, I will be sure to fill you all in.
By the way, have you ordered your copy of the Kennedy School Review yet? If not, no worries. It is easily ordered online by following this link: Kennedy School Review Online Ordering.
A copy in your home is sure to bring good luck…at least that is according to urban legend.
Good luck for $10? Sounds like a good deal to me!

Thanks! I just re-read the application letter that I sent and it was atrocious! Grammatical errors, blah, blah… I’m surprised I made it to the list.
T, just remember that your “atrocious” is most people’s “fantastic.” You are so modest when it comes to your work, no wonder you’re following in my steps!
