Did You Vote?

I know I did. This urge to vote was burning inside of me – the opportunity to make known my say and hopefully choose someone with bright and fresh ideas to take this country to a whole new level. Looking at today’s results, it seems there is a tie so both a being awarded the first-place title. Of course I am talking about the Martha Stewart Big Idea Bake-Off where five of her employees pitched new ideas to help extend the reach of Martha’s influence and offer viewers different opportunities to have a “Martha Experience.” Over 650,000 votes were cast (more than the Iowa caucus!) and there ended up being a tie for first place, although I’m not quite sure how that happened since one of the ideas held 57% of the popular vote. Sadly, my vote did not boost into first place the idea that I thought was genius – a Martha Stewart interactive store in New York that would combine shopping, how-to classes and demonstrations, celebrity appearances from that day’s show, and greater access to Martha’s influence.

The top two winners pitched ideas about a new Martha food magazine that caters to an audience with food allergies and another magazine for pet lovers. Is that what we really need, more magazines? I’m shocked people voted for those ideas. Those voters should have just tapped on the keyboard of their unplugged computers and would have made just as much impact as these two new magazines will eventually have. I’m not bitter, darlings. It’s just disappointing to see such a good idea get a round of applause and two new magazines added to the list of publications in the MSLO collection. All of this after Martha’s regular Blueprint magazine folded and turned into a supplement to another one of her other magazines.

The winners? They each got their choice of $100,000 or a share of stocks in the MSLO corporation. Honey, you can bet your bippie that I would grab the money and invest it somewhere else, like real estate or a long vacation for us in Bora Bora….as long as its not boring boring. HaHaHa! OK, I’ll stop.
